Overview

The unknowns and mystery of “Universe” always arouse my imagination. In particular, “Wormhole” is a concept I really like. I think motion design and wormhole share common points—they both connect different spaces and dimensions.

In this project, I try to explore the visual expression of space in our universe, as well as challenge myself to explore spatial transformation in motion graphics.

Inspiration & Challenges

I have a special fondness for the “universe”, and wormhole is one of my favorite concept, which refers to a spatial tunnel that connects two spaces.

For me, motion design is like a wormhole. It connects different dimensions of space and time—two and three dimensional—and even expands the dimension of imagination as well. This became even more evident to me every time I watch the superb transitions in motion works. Therefore, I want to combine the universe and motion design to explore the visual expression of space.

Solution

Concept Development

I distributed online questionnaires to ask about the words people associate with the universe. Combining my own feelings and respondents’ answers, I assumed a premise for this project: When we wake up at the end of the universe, what vision awaits? Based on this premise, I made a mind map.
