Overview
In this project, I tried to connect the female live streamers today with the women factory workers in the past. I hope that by demonstrating this paired idea, people will pay more attention to the exploitation of women’s labor as well as the long-term plight of women.

Inspiration & Challenges
The inspiration came from a piece of news. On August 19, 2020, during an e-commerce live streaming, a female streamer was hit in the head by a backdrop behind her. She immediately fainted, and the live had to be terminated as a result.
The Covid-19 outbreak has fueled the rapid growth of China’s live-streaming industry. Initially, it was thought to be a place where people could realize their dreams: anyone could create content and gain value with just one phone. But, was this really the case?
Solution
Concept Development
I conducted some research and found that there were severe phenomena such as labor exploitation in the industry. And among those online streamers, young women were the majority. This reminded me of female assembly line workers in the 1980s in China.
Therefore, I connected the two groups, using the similarities between them as a theme.
